WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOU WERE NOT AFRAID?
Bogotá, Medellín, Guatapé, Cartagena
10 days / 9 nights

DAY 01BOGOTÁ

Arrival to El Dorado International Airport where you will be picked up by a representative of ECUADOR & BEYOND and will be transferred to the selected hotel.

DAY 02BOGOTÁ

Firstly to downtown Bogotá visiting the historic district of La Candelaria. You will enjoy exploring the Unique Gold Museum, the famous Botero Museum and to finish you will go to Monserrate Hill taking the Cable Car to the top. At the gold museum, you will have the option to do a Coffee Baptism (a ritual to enhance your tasting senses). The mountain of Cerro de Monserrate rises over downtown Bogotá, a church high up on the mountain is one of the city’s most popular tourist attractions. In the afternoon you will visit one of the most important market places in Bogotá where you can explore the magic of the local products and exotic fruits which you can only find in Colombia.

DAY 03BOGOTÁ / MEDELLÍN

In the morning you will be transferred to the airport for your local flight to Medellin. The City of Medellin offers a great variety of urban arts due to the city’s transformation of the last 20 years. Nowadays, the city is so full of countless artistic expressions of street art that the local authorities declared urban art a cultural landmark of Medellin. Graffiti is not only about strong artistic and cultural elements, it is a way of political expression. See the graffiti of the Comuna 13 guided by some of the local artists themselves. This tour gives you an insight on history and daily life in this area and the importance of street art for social communication and identity.

DAY 04MEDELLÍN / GUATEPÉ

Our guide will take you directly to El Peñol, a journey of about approximately 2 hours. This great trip takes you out into the countryside to the giant monolith rock of El Peñol (Literally, “The stone”). The top of the rock is reached by a series of 649 wooden steps that wind up to the top. Upon reaching the top you are greeted with a 360-degree bird’s eye view of the surrounding countryside. The nearby town of Guatape is a lakeside “get away” for the residents of Medellin and is an ideal location to explore the rural charm of Antioquia and take a leisurely walk along the waterfront or through the main town square or “Parque” with its brightly painted houses and storefronts. Guatape has a number of pretty waterfront restaurants in which to enjoy delicious lunch cooked using locally sourced ingredients.

DAY 05SANTA FE DE ANTIOQUIA

You will be taken directly to Santa Fe de Antioquia for your full-day tour of the town, a journey of about approximately 2 hours to reach Santa Fe. Set in a lush low lying hot valley on the banks of the Rio Cauca, Santa Fe de Antioquia is the oldest settlement in the region. The town has kept much of its Colonial charm, the narrow streets and whitewashed colonial-style buildings many of which with large central courtyards in which to relax away from the midday heat. The central plaza is dominated by the principal church of the town. We invite you to explore the cultural treasures of Santa Fe de Antioquia, take a ride through Latin America’s longest tunnel and visit the well-known bridge “Puente del Occidente”.

DAY 06COFFE WORKSHOP

Experience a Barista Workshop and learn to prepare coffee like a professional. Get to know secrets about Colombian coffee and an insight into the historical background of the coffee industry in Colombia. Starting with a professional espresso machine you prepare different types of coffee like Espresso, Machiatto, Americano, and Cappuccino. At each step of the way, our Barista will guide and encourage you to build your confidence in each coffee style. But it’s not all about the espresso machine. You’ll also quickly review alternative methods of preparing coffee including using a French Press, V60 and Chemex – because it’s nice to know how to make quality coffee even if you don’t own an expensive machine

DAY 07MEDELLIN / CARTAGENA

Transfer to the local airport, take your flight to Cartagena. Arrive in Cartagena and be transferred to the hotel of your election. After arriving we will start, bring your appetite and an adventurous attitude. We hit the streets to experience food the way Cartageneros do. In the afternoon you will live a wonderful and recreational experience, lead by on of the most important Mixologists in Colombia, who will guide you and show you that the mysterious world of liquor goes way beyond a bottle.

DAY 08CARTAGENA

In this full-day tour, we visit the Inquisition Palace, the building itself is considered one of the most elegant and characteristic colonial constructions of its time, XVII century, in Cartagena de Indias. Throughout its interior visitors to the museum will find instruments of torture and prison cells. The inquisition used the location as its central command against criminals and never recognized the innocent. A short walk away and your final stop is a visit to San Pedro Claver Cloister, monastery and museum built in homage to the protector of slaves, San Pedro, and serves as a reminder of the turbulent past of Cartagena and indeed the Americas. The Cloister where Pedro Claver lived and died has become a special place of silence, and reflection–a shrine to the life’s work of this extraordinary man.

DAY 09ISLA ROSARIO

Explore the impressive, beautiful landscapes of the Rosario Islands with their clear waters, gentle breezes, and maritime life such as dolphins. Today, the entire surrounding area, including the Islas de Barú and the Islas de San Bernardo, are officially protected sites. During this day trip on the Majagua Island you will have enough time to explore the beautiful nature and relax on the beach. There you will also be served a typical lunch. In the afternoon you will return to Cartagena.

DAY 10CARTAGENA
