DAY 01LIMA

Arrival to the Jorge Chavez International Airport where you will be picked up by a representative of ECUADOR & BEYOND and will be transferred to the selected hotel.

DAY 02LIMA

Lima is “The Gastronomic Capital of America” due to the variety of flavors, result of the initial fusion from the old Peruvian cuisine with some elements brought from Spanish, Arab and important influence of Chinese and Japanese. For that reason, we offer a Culinary Experience where you can delight with the best of the Peruvian gastronomy and the beauty of its Colonial city.

DAY 03LIMA / AREQUIPA

Arrival, reception, and transfer to selected hotel. Arequipa, known as the White City for its beautiful white walls of sillar, a volcanic stone. The downtown of the city, placed on the World Cultural Heritage list by UNESCO, features Mixed Baroque churches and mansions from the Colonial Period. In the afternoon, we start a three-hour sightseeing tour including the Santa Catalina Convent. Then we will visit the Plaza de Armas the Jesuit Church of La Compañía and its beautifully painted Chapel, the Church of San Francisco, the San Lazaro District, Selva Alegre and the typical Districts of Cayma and Yanahuara for a magnificent view of the Misti Volcano. Return to the hotel.

DAY 04AREQUIPA

We invite you to have two hours of fun preparing delicious Arequipeña recipes in a wonderful environment. An open kitchen with view to Casa de Avila’s central garden. You cut, peel, mix, prepare, cook, and fry your own meal under directions of our well-prepared staff. We will visit the San Camilo market; it is very attractive and has a bit of everything. We will stop by stand looking for our main ingredients. But we will not miss the rural bread area, the fruits section (we will taste exotic ones!) cheese section and of course potato area where you can see about 300 or more different species of potatoes. The activity includes the preparation of two-course Andean meal.

DAY 05AREQUIPA / COLCA

Have your camera ready as you will stop at various stunning viewpoints including the Pampa Cañahuas Reserve, which is home to many exotic Andean animals including vicuñas, alpacas, llamas, flamingos, ibis, and the Andean eagle. You will see astonishing landscapes as you drive past lakes, glaciers and some magnificent volcanoes, such as Ampato, Sabancaya, Huallca, and Misti. Hiking through ancient agricultural terraces that are still farmed in a traditional way today, we follow an easy trail to the impressive Uyo Uyo pre-Inca ruins. It is approximately 45 minutes of hiking to the ruins where we will spend time exploring the different buildings of this extensive citadel.

DAY 06COLCA / PUNO

We will take you to the most wonderful places in the Colca Canyon. Along the way, we will make a few stops in small Andean villages where time seems to have stood still and Colonial architecture remains to be well saved. We travel along the canyon until we get to ‘Mirador Cruz del Condor’, which is the best viewing point where you can look into the depths of the Colca Canyon. Also, we will visit the “Mirador de Tapay”. This viewing point is 1200m deep. From here you will most likely always see a few condors flying with amazing scenery in the background. You will have the chance for a short hike along the canyon Transfer to Puno city, this journey will take 6 hours approximately.

DAY 07PUNO

Sail the waters of Lake Titicaca. The tour includes a visit to Uros Island where you can go by comfortable motorboats. Uros is part of Aymara ethnic family of islands that live on artificial islands made of floating reeds (Totora is a plant that exists in the region). From here, you can reach the hills of Taquile Island. Gifted with several hills and harboring archaeological sites, the island’s main activity is textiles (hand works of art) representing scenes of everyday life.

DAY 08PUNO / CUSCO

During this journey, we will visit the church of San Pedro de Andahuaylillas, also known as the “Sistine Chapel of the Americas” due to its ceilings’ golden décor. Stop at the Raqchi archeological site, where you will be able to visit the spectacular sanctuary built by the Inca emperor Pachacutec and dedicated to the Incan deity Wiracocha. The structure has a towering central wall with a stone foundation based on developed Incan architecture. We will make our way to the highest point on the route, the La Raya mountain range. Soon after, we will reach the archeological ruins of Pukara, which is noted for its pyramid. We arrive in Cusco.

DAY 09CUSCO

Today, we will have great fun exploring the streets of Cusco with our guide. Sampling local flavors at each stop, our guide takes you to a lively market and a variety of eateries provided interesting insight into local life and Peruvian cooking – sampling a variety of food along the way. We will stop at San Pedro Market, continue and pass some of the almost 4,000 varieties of potato that grow in Peru. Ranging from purple to red, to yellow, the potato is a staple of the Peruvian diet and has been essential throughout history. We will head for some traditional Peruvian coffee. We are mesmerized by the variety of food and cooking styles Cusco has to offer – from piles of chicharron, fried meat (usual pork), to buckets of artisanal ice cream (any of these are included in price). In the afternoon, we will continue visiting the 04 nearby ruins from Cusco: Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo, Puca Pucara, and Tambomachay.

DAY 10CUSCO / URUBAMBA

On the way to Sacred Valley, we stop at Chincheros Community, whose inhabitants have preserved traditional weaving and spinning techniques. We will continue our visit to the Inca Fortress and Citadel of Ollantaytambo, built to guard the entrance to this part of the Valley and protect it from possible invasion from the tribes in the Lower jungle. The Fortress consists of a series of stepped carved stone terraces accessed by long staircases. Later on, you can walk through the quaint streets of the nearby town, and get a good idea of what this Strategic Military, Religious, and Agricultural Centre was like during the era of the Inca Empire.

DAY 11URUBAMBA / AGUAS CALIENTES / MACHU PICCHU / CUSCO

The day starts with an early morning rise to transfer to Ollanta Train Station and board the train for a journey to the famous Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu, also known as “The Lost City of the Incas”, one of the best-known examples of surviving Inca architecture. Arrive at Aguas Calientes Station followed by a 30-minute bus drive, climbing 6km of winding road, to the marvelous Citadel. Upon arrival, you will participate in a guided tour of the Citadel, visiting the Main Plaza, the Circular Tower, the sacred sundial (the most important preserved Intihuatana), the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows and various burial grounds.
