DAY 01BOGOTÁ

Arrival to El Dorado International Airport where you will be picked up by a representative of ECUADOR & BEYOND and will be transferred to the selected hotel.

DAY 02BOGOTÁ

Firstly to downtown Bogotá visiting the historic district of La Candelaria. You will enjoy exploring the Unique Gold Museum, the famous Botero Museum and to finish you will go to Monserrate Hill taking the Cable Car to the top. At the gold museum, you will have the option to do a Coffee Baptism (a ritual to enhance your tasting senses). The mountain of Cerro de Monserrate rises over downtown Bogotá, a church high up on the mountain is one of the city’s most popular tourist attractions. In the afternoon you will visit one of the most important market places in Bogotá where you can explore the magic of the local products and exotic fruits which you can only find in Colombia.

DAY 03ZIPAQUIRA / VILLA DE LEYVA

In the morning you will be driven from your Hotel to the town of Zipaquirá to visit an underground Salt Mine that has a Cathedral inside. Walking inside the Salt Cathedral is a very special experience with a catholic taste due to the country´s traditions and the miner’s devotion for The Holy Virgin of Guasca who protects them. Once at the bottom of the Cathedral you will see the 3 sections and the big cross in the main one. A simple but complete movie will show you the dimensions of the mine as well as the history behind it.

DAY 04VILLA DE LEYVA / MEDELLIN

Free morning. Let yourself be amazed by the charming town of Villa de Leyva, one of the heritage towns of Colombia. This beautiful city with Spanish colonial architecture, is one of the best preserved and oldest cities in the country. Be surprised by the cobbled streets and the impressive main square of the town, the largest in Colombia. You will feel that you are back in time. In the surroundings of the village you can visit some interesting places such as El Fósil, the archeological area of ​​El Infiernito and the Monastery
Back to the airport for your flight to Medellin. You will have a private transfer from the José Maria Córdova airport to your selected hotel in Medellin.

DAY 05MEDELLIN / GUATEPE

You will be met from your hotel by your guide and taken directly to El Peñol, a journey of about approximately 2 hours. This great trip takes you out into the countryside to the giant monolith rock of El Peñol (Literally, “The stone”). The top of the rock is reached by a series of 649 wooden steps that wind up to the top of the rock. Upon reaching the top you are greeted with a 360-degree bird’s eye view of the surrounding countryside. The nearby town of Guatape is a lakeside “get away” for the residents of Medellin and is an ideal location to explore the rural charm of Antioquia and take a leisurely walk along the waterfront or through the main town square or “Parque” with its brightly painted houses and storefronts. Guatape has a number of pretty waterfront restaurants in which to enjoy delicious lunch cooked using locally sourced ingredients.

DAY 06SANTA FE DE ANTIOQUIA

You will be taken directly to Santa Fe de Antioquia for your full-day tour of the town, a journey of about approximately 2 hours to reach Santa Fe. Set in a lush low lying hot and sultry valley on the banks of the Rio Cauca, Santa Fe de Antioquia is the oldest settlement in the region. The town has kept much of its Colonial charm, the narrow streets and whitewashed colonial-style buildings many of which with large central courtyards in which to relax away from the midday heat. The central plaza is dominated by the principal church of the town. As an additional side trip, you can take a “Tuk Tuk” or covered motorbike taxi down to the Cauca River to see the famous suspension bridge, said to be the oldest in the Americas. You will arrive back to Medellin late afternoon.

DAY 07COFFE EXPERIENCE

Experience the Colombian coffee culture on a traditional coffee farm located in the hills of Medellín. Get an insight into the daily life of a Colombian coffee farmer. Stroll through the coffee plantations and learn about the entire coffee process “…from the plant to the cup!” Be impressed by how close to the vibrant mega city of Medellín the Colombian country life starts.

DAY 08MEDELLIN / SANTA MARTA

In the morning you will be transferred to the airport for your local flight to Santa Marta. Arrive in Santa Marta and you will be taken to the hotel.

DAY 09SANTA MARTA

The Pre-Hispanic societies gallery describes the societies that inhabited the Sierra Nevada during the Nahuange (200 to 900 A.D.) and Tairona (900 to 1600 A.D.) Periods: their pottery and their metalwork, the way they lived and how they were buried, their ceremonies and rituals, as revealed by archaeological research. The People of Magdalena gallery is a journey through present-day Magdalena province and its people. La Quinta de San Pedro Alejandrino is one of the most important tourist attractions in the city of Santa Marta and is managed by the Bolivarian Museum of Contemporary Art Foundation.

DAY 10TAYRONA NATIONAL PARK

Driving northeast from the city of Santa Marta you will pass along the foothills of the famous Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta the highest coastal mountain range in the world. After passing through the main park entrance and checkpoint you will continue for an additional 10 to 20 minutes along a rough gravel track to the end of the road trail. From here it’s time to get your walking boots on and get ready to hit the coastal paths. Depending on your exact requirements the walk can be 30 minutes or so to one of the main beaches, where you can sit under hanging palms and watch the waves roll up the shore or a walk of a couple of hours or so to one of the main swimming beaches also located here are a number of great locally run restaurants for a nice lunch. Remember that during your walk you can look out for some of the Kogi tribes’ people who still live in the park.

DAY 11PALOMINO BEACH

Enjoy a beautiful day at the beach of Palomino. Just relax or if you want you can also book additional activities like mountain biking, tubing on the river Rio Don Diego or visiting an indigenous community.

DAY 12SANTA MARTA

Transfer out for your international flight or if you decide to take any tour extension.
